Washington County Oregon Traffic School Diversion
The Washington County Oregon Traffic School Diversion Program is a Traffic Course that may, if eligible, result in the dismissal of minor traffic violations in lieu of a conviction on your record.
Court approval may be required. Check with the court that the traffic ticket/citation was issued.
Eligibility is determined based on the type of violation you were cited for, prior moving violation convictions within the last 3 years and any prior participation in a traffic school program within the last 3 years.
Some violations will require further Judge approval prior to participation in this program.
Traffic School is not available for citations for going 100 mph or greater, for reckless driving, or any other driving Traffic offenses including, but not limited to, Driving Under the Influence, Failure to Perform the Duties of a Driver, Attempt to Evade or Elude and/or Driving While Suspended.
Traffic offenses usually consist or moving violations.
This program is not available to anyone possessing a Commercial Drivers License (CDL).
Fine Cost for a Speeding Ticket
Speeding violation consequences depend on the circumstances. But generally, the penalties—which typically depend on the amount by which the driver exceeded the speed limit—are as follows:
- 1 to 10 miles per hour over the limit. Class D traffic violation and a presumptive fine of $115 ($225 if in a school or construction zone).
- 11 to 20 miles per hour over the limit. Class C traffic violation and a presumptive fine of $165 ($325 if in a school or construction zone).
- 21 to 30 miles per hour over the limit. Class B traffic violation and a presumptive fine of $265 ($525 if in a school or construction zone).
- Over 30 miles per hour in excess of the limit. Class A traffic violation and a presumptive fine of $440 ($875 if in a school or construction zone). License suspension of up to 30 days is also possible of the motorist has at least one prior speeding violation within the past year.
- 100 miles per hour or more in excess of the limit. Specific traffic violation, a presumptive fine of $1,150, and mandatory 90-day license suspension.

Senior drivers age 50 and over can take the Mature Driver Crash/Accident Prevention Program. This course can net Washington County Oregon drivers in this age group a discount on their current auto insurance policy immediately in most cases.
